Book Launch of Elder Avvakum of Mount Athos

Serhii Shumylo, presented his book at the FoMA 2023 summer conference. He spoke about aspects of the Ukrainian heritage on Athos and the role of Transcarpathians in the preservation of St Panteleimonos monastery in the second half of the twentieth century. The book launch had been planned for the previous year’s summer conference, but was postponed, owing to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Shumylo is now a Visiting Research at Exeter University, and is funded by a British Academy scholarship.
