As recipient of the first Doug Patterson/Royal College of Art/ Mount Athos Centre drawing bursary, Tim Vyner was invited to visit all twenty monasteries on Mount Athos in a single calendar year, and to provide a contemporary record of this remarkable place. His presentation will recapture those experiences using drawings, illustrations, paintings and photographs of his time on the Holy Mountain.

Tim Studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, and the Royal College of Art and for more than thirty years has worked on location using drawing to capture unique events and places around the world. He works across media, including traditional analogue skills of pen and ink as well as immediately accessible lines of the digital iPad. His work on Mount Athos has been exhibited in Greece, Serbia and Turkey in 2014, 2018 and 2019 and the book ‘Life on Mount Athos’ was published 2015.

Tim works as Professor of Illustration at Bath Spa University in the School of Design. 

The talk will take place at St Bride’s Institute, 14 Bride Lane, London EC4Y 8EQ.  There will be a charge of £20 at the door to cover room costs and refreshments. 

Before the talk, there will be a vespers service at St Dunstan’s in the West in Fleet Street at 6pm.
